My previous answer to this would have been; just don’t.
But I am warming up to the idea of double denim especially when I see people like Olivia Palmero, Miranda Kerr and Kourtney Kardashian (yes, I love her, she’s definitely my favourite Kardashian) rocking it. I’m definitely not suggesting we go back to the days of Justin and Britney but we also shouldn’t think that that’s the only way that double denim can go.
I think the most effortless and the most effective way to wear double denim is super simple. Pair an open chambray shirt with a vest top (or singlet, if you’re in NZ and call it by its proper name!) – I think a white singlet works best but black or other colours definitely work too – and some denim shorts. This girl from the blog Pearls of Style looks great!
Personally, I think it works best when both of your denims aren’t dark and stiff – otherwise you’re heading back for Britney. A relaxed, light denim shirt looks great with a pair of ripped shorts and some cute ballet flats or sandals. They’re a definite purchase in time for spring and summer. I’ve got a great Ralph Lauren Denim & Supply that’ll I’ll be matching with some shorts and a singlet this summer – I’ve got all my outfits planned for visiting my brother in Malaysia…I just haven’t actually booked any flights yet!
Oh, and if you’re a boy, just take it from Becks…
What other double denim looks have you seen that work?
